Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM)
Managed switches offer the ability to configure, manage and monitor the LAN. Management of these devices allows for proactive identification to solve problems quickly and more effectively. Managed Switches are capable of prioritizing traffic such as VoIP or video traffic with the use of Quality of Service (QoS). Managed switches provide support for VLANs Link aggregation, bandwidth limiting, network redundancy and scalability. Managed Switches also have the ability to be monitored with typical network management protocols such as SNMP.
Roles & Responsibilities
Collabrance Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Basic Configuration (Static IP, SNMP) (FortiSwitch only)
- Complete Firmware Upgrades (FortiSwitch only)
Standard Service included in support fee
- Supported brand/models:
- FortiSwitch by Fortinet
- Catalyst by Cisco
- ProCurve and OfficeConnect by HPE
- Provide reliable Ethernet LAN connectivity
Elective Services available for additional fee
- Network design
- Configure QoS/Traffic Shaping (FortiSwitch only)
- Configure VLANs and routing (FortiSwitch only)
- Any other configuration settings
- Advanced Routing (FortiSwitch only)
Service Provider Responsibilities
- Provide administrative access information
- Access method (GUI, Telnet, SSH, etc.)
- Username and Password
- Provided on-site assistance as needed
- Determine the correct managed switch based on the criteria listed above (this may include involving the supplier/vendor of the hardware)
Subscriber Responsibilities
- Know where switch is physically located
- Provide a person to cycle power, in the event NOC determines it should be done
- Provide administrative access information
- Access method (GUI, Telnet, SSH, etc.)
- Username and Password
